1993 - Battle of Mogadishu: In an attempt to capture officials of warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid's organization in Mogadishu, Somalia, 18 US Army Rangers and about 1000 Somalis are killed in heavy fighting.
1995 - O.J. Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald L. Goldman. Simpson was later found liable in a civil trial.
2001 - Near Manchester, TN, a passenger on a Greyhound bus slashed the throat of the driver. The wreck killed six and injured 34 others. The driver survived his injuries The attacker was killed in the accident and was identified as Damir Igric.
2001 - Barry Bonds (San Francisco Giants) broke Babe Ruth's major league single-season record for walks at 171.
2003 - Ray Horn, of the duo "Siegfried & Roy," was attacked by tiger during a performance. Roy survived the attack after being dragged offstage. The tiger, a 7-year-old male named Montecore, was debuting in his first show

Joke of the Day
Bottle Fed Baby
A woman and a baby come into the doctor's office.
She is taken into an examining room and waits for the doctor.
After arriving there, the doctor examines the baby, and finds him not gaining much weight and asks the woman, "Is he breast fed or on the bottle?"
"Oh...he is breast fed!", replied the woman.
"Well then, strip down to your waist," orders the doctor.
She takes off her top and bra and sits on the examing table.
The doc starts pressing, kneading and pinching both breasts for quite a while in a very detailed and thorough examination.
The doc motions to her to get dressed, then the doctor says, "No wonder this baby is so hungry. You don't have any milk!"
The woman with a wry grin on her face responds, "Well of course I don't, I'm his aunt!"
First Football Game
A guy took his girlfriend to her first football game. Afterward he asked her how she like the game.
'I liked it, but I couldn't understand why they were killing each other for 25 cents,' she said.
'What do you mean?' he asked.
'Well, everyone kept yelling, 'Get the quarter back!'
A monthly bill from the law firm
A corporate executive received a monthly bill from the law firm that was handling a big case for his company. It included hourly billing for conferences, research, phone calls, and everything but lunch hours. Unhappy as he was, the executive knew that the company would have to pay for each of these services.
Then he noticed one item buried in the middle of the list: FOR CROSSING THE STREET TO TALK TO YOU, THEN DISCOVERING IT WASN'T YOU AFTER ALL -- $125.

Most Parachute Jumps In 24 Hours
Jay Stokes (USA) made 534 successful parachute jumps in a 24-hour period on November 11-12, 2003, at Lake Elsinore, California, USA. Jay's amazing feat required him to make one parachute jump every two-and-a-half minutes from an altitude of 2,100 ft!
Most Parachute Descents - Male
On July 13, 2003 Don Kellner (USA) made his 34,000th freefall skydive in accordance with the U.S. Parachute Association Basic Safety Requirements. He made his first jump on June 14, 1961.
