1825 - Ezra Daggett & nephew Thomas Kensett patent food storage in tin cans
1883 - Thomas Edison's first village electric lighting system using overhead wires began operation in Roselle, NJ.
1903 - New bicycle race "Tour de France" announced
1915 - 20 people were killed when German zeppelins bombed England for the first time.
1922 - Government geological survey says US oil supply would be depleted in 20 years
1937 - Howard Hughes set a transcontinental air record. He flew from Los Angeles to New York City in 7 hours, 28 minutes and 25 seconds.

Lose Weight
Having lost weight over the past few years, a lady was discarding things from her wardrobe that no longer fit. Her seven-year-old niece was watching as she held up a huge pair of slacks. "Wow," the lady said, "I must have worn these when I was 183." Her niece looked puzzled, then asked, "How old are you now?"
Dusty Housekeeping
My mom is a less than fastidious housekeeper. One evening my dad returned home from work, walked into the kitchen and teased her, "You know, dear, I can write my name in the dust on the mantel." Mom turned to him and sweetly replied, "Yes, darling, I know. That's why I married a college graduate."

The measurement of the five nails on the left hand of Shridhar Chillal(India) was 23 feet 1 ½ inches. His thumbnail measures 62.2 inches, his index fingernail 51.5 inches, his middle fingernail 54.3 inches, his ring fingernail 55.1 inches and has little fingernail 54.3 inches he last cut his nails and 1952.
Longest fingernails on both hands
Lee Redmond(USA) holds the record for the longest fingernails on both hands. She hasn’t cut her nails since 1979, and has grown and manicured them to a total length of 24 feet 7 .8 inches
