Lost Cookies
After a long, bumpy flight, our passengers were glad to finally land. They disembarked, and the other attendants and I checked for items left behind. In a seat pocket, I found a bag of home-made cookies with a note saying, "Much love, Mom." Quickly, I gave the bag to our gate agent in hopes it would be reunited with its owner. A few minutes later, an announcement came over the public-address system in the concourse: "Would the passenger who lost his cookies on Flight 502, please return to the gate?"

550 rounds of ammunition seized from Johnson's house

GURNEE, Ill. -- Police seized about 550 rounds of ammunition from the home of Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson during a raid last month, according to new court documents.
The ammunition was discovered in Johnson's kitchen, basement, garage and bedroom.
Police also found six guns, marijuana and unlabeled pills believed to be the prescription painkiller hydrocodone, the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reported, citing search warrant documents filed Friday in Lake County Circuit Court. Johnson was charged with six counts of possession of a firearm without a gun-owner identification card. Authorities said they found a semiautomatic rifle with 19 live rounds in the master bedroom, four unloaded weapons -- two rifles and two handguns -- and a loaded .45-caliber handgun under a leather chair in the basement.
Johnson's bodyguard, Willie B. Posey, was arrested on felony drug charges after the raid; Posey was shot and killed two days later during an early morning fight at a nightclub in Chicago. Johnson lived with his girlfriend, Posey and two young children.
It was the third arrest in 18 months for Johnson, who must stay at home except to go to work and needs permission to leave Illinois until a court decides whether he violated his probation on a 2005 gun charge.
Johnson publicly apologized and received a one-game suspension.
Police in Gurnee, about 40 miles northwest of Chicago, began an investigation six weeks before the raid after neighbors complained about three caged pit bulls on the property and said they heard gunshots from Johnson's back yard.
During the raid, police said they discovered a "business-type card" inside a gym bag that listed the telephone numbers of Bears coach Lovie Smith and team security chief Tom Dillon.
"On the reverse side of the card is listed warnings about the legal limit for DUI and possessing a firearm without a valid (identification)," according to court documents.
Bears spokesman Scott Hagel said all team players received the card.
"It's all part of the training our players receive at the beginning of the year," he said.
Johnson's next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.

State urges taxpayers to watch for identity theft in wake of misprint

MILWAUKEE The state Department of Revenue today is urging taxpayers to contact credit bureaus to guard against identity theft after acknowledging late last week that Social Security numbers for 171-thousand taxpayers inadvertently ended up on mailing labels. The department first notified people and post offices of the misprint on Friday night, after it heard from people who had received the mailings earlier in the day.
Department spokeswoman Meredith Helgerson says by this afternoon, some 54-thousand-500 undelivered booklets had been retrieved from post offices in Portage, Madison and Oshkosh.
This means the remainder of the mailings _ now estimated at 171-thousand, up from 170-thousand _ were delivered in the past few days.
She says the department provided a file to the printer with confidential information such as names, addresses and Social Security numbers, which has been done in years past, but this time the numbers ended up on the labels.
The department said the name of the company was Ripon Community Printers and they've were paid 22-thousand dollars for the service this year.
Company president Andy Lyke says they're trying to figure out how the numbers ended up on the labels and they regret the error.

Elderly man beats intruder with shoehorn
TOWN OF LEBANON - A man accused of breaking into and tormenting an elderly town of Lebanon couple early Monday morning has been arrested.
A man forced himself into the couple's home about 1 a.m. and demanded money, according to a Dodge County Sheriff's Department press release. The man threatened to shoot the couple, but the husband, in his 80s, beat the man with a shoehorn and the intruder fled. A 46-year-old Clintonville man has been arrested and is being held in the Dodge County Jail. Another man believed to be connected to the crime was arrested in Waukesha County, according to the release. Both men are on probation for previous crimes. According to police reports, the woman, in her 80s, noticed someone outside their home and quickly woke her husband. The intruder kicked in their door and entered the bedroom and confronted the husband, demanding money. The husband, also in his 80s, told the man to leave or he would shoot the intruder. The intruder said he was armed and would "blow his head off." The husband armed himself with a long shoehorn and began beating the intruder about the head forcing him from the residence, according to the release. The two men then committed another home invasion in the Oconomowoc area and were arrested in Waukesha County, according to the release.
While being interviewed by a Dodge County detective one of the subjects admitted to committing a burglary in the town of Oak Grove prior to the Dodge County home invasion. A safe and other property were removed from the residence and have since been recovered.
