1885 - Although the exact date is unknown, the US Patent Office acknowledges December 1st, 1885 as the first day Dr Pepper was served.
1878 - 1st White House telephone installed
1903 - "The Great Train Robbery," the 1st Western film, released
1913 - Continuous moving assembly line introduced by Ford (car every 2:38)
1913 - The first drive-in automobile service station opened, in Pittsburgh, PA.
1929 - Game of BINGO invented by Edwin S Lowe
1933 - Rudolf Hess and Earnest Rohm become a minister in Hitler government
1936 - Bell Labs tests coaxial cable for TV use
1939 - SS-Fuhrer Himmler begins deportation of Polish Jews
1941 - Japanese emperor Hirohito signs declaration of war

1997 - Michael Carneal, 14 years old, fired upon a morning prayer group at Heath High School in West Paducah, KY. Three students were killed and five were wounded. Carneal plead guilty but insane and was sentenced to life in prison
1998 - Exxon announces a US$73.7 billion deal to buy Mobil, thus creating Exxon-Mobil, the largest company on the planet.

Joke of the Day - Donkey Raffle
A Cajun named Jean Paul moved to Texas and bought a donkey from an old farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day. The next day the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry, but I got some bad news. The donkey died."
"Well then, just give me my money back."
"Cain't do that. I went and spent it already."
"OK then, just unload the donkey."
"What ya gonna do with em."
"I'm gonna raffle him off."
"Ya cain't raffle off a dead donkey!"
"Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anyone he's dead."
A month later the farmer met up with the Cajun and asked, "What happened with the dead donkey?"
"I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at $2.00 apiece and made a profit of $898.00."
"Didn't no one complain?"
"Just the guy who won. So I gave him his $2.00 back."

World Records - Largest Dental Caps
The world's largest dental caps measure 50 cm (19 in) long, 13 cm (5 in) in diameter and weigh 13 kg (28 lb) each. They were fixed onto a pair of cracked tusks belonging to Spike, a resident Asian elephant, at the Calgary Zoo, Alberta, Canada during a 3 hour 30 minute operation on July 4, 2002.
Largest Plate inserted in a Human Skull
Tom Thompson (USA) had a titanium plate measuring 15 x 11 cm (5.9 x 4.33 in) inserted into the left side of his head by neurosurgeons at DeKalb General Hospital, Decatur, Georgia, USA on April 30, 1971. The surgery took place after he had been struck by a car and pronounced dead on arrival at the local hospital.
