1921 - The owner of Acme Packing Company bought a pro football team for Green Bay, WI. J.E. Clair paid tribute to those who worked in his plant by naming the team the Green Bay Packers. (NFL)

1992 - Federal troops were ordered to Florida for emergency relief due to Hurricane Andrew.
1996 - California Governor Pete Wilson signed an order that would halt state benefits to
illegal immigrants.
1998 - In New York city, Mohamed Rashed Daoud Al-'Owhali appeared in a U.S. Federal Court to face charges of bombing attacks at the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
1999 - The final crew of the Russian space station Mir departed the station to return to Earth. Russia was forced to abandon Mir for financial reasons.
2001 - The U.S. military announced that an Air Force RQ-1B "Predator" aircraft was lost over Iraq. It was reported that the unmanned aircraft "may have crashed or been shot down."
2001 - Work began on the future site of a World War II memorial on the U.S. capital's historic national Mall. The site is between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial

6 Double Vodkas
A man walked into a bar and ordered 6 double vodkas. The bartender said
"Wow, you must have had a hell of a day!". The man replied "Yes, I just found out my oldest son is gay!"
Two days later, the same man came into the same bar and ordered another 6 double vodkas. Again, the bartender asked about his troubles. "I just found out my youngest son is gay too!"
Next day, in comes the same man who orders the same 6 double vodkas. The bartender says "Good Lord! Doesn't anyone in your house like women?"
The man replies, "Yea, my wife!"

The Senate is investigating deceptive sweepstakes practices. These companies target the elderly and make them think they will receive a bunch of money, but in reality they never see any of it.
The most popular of these scams is called Social Security.
World Records
Largest Oyster In 1999, a common oyster taken from Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, weighed in at 8 pounds(3.7kg) and measured 12 inches long and 5 inches wide.
Largest Crocodile
The largest reptile in the world is the saltwater crocodile, which ranges throughout the tropical regions of Asia and the Pacific. The largest crocodile being over 23 feet long. There are several authenticated reports of specimens up to 33 feet in length.
